Important Update: Very Destructive Malware in the Wild

Hi all,

Please be advised that there is a very destructive piece of malware doing the rounds at the moment. There are a few things that make this one more dangerous than normal:

  • It doesn’t have a specific attack vector (how it gets into your system) – it may be an email attachment, a link in an email, a compromised or malicious website, or it may reside on a USB key someone may give you.
  • It is highly destructive – after stealing your data (passwords, bank account details, private or company files) it has the capacity to delete everything on your computer, to the point where it will not even be able to run at all.

Due to the above we’re asking you all the be extra vigilant over the holiday period with regards to emails that you open and websites that you visit. If it looks in the least bit suspicious delete the email, close the browser, don’t click the link and certainly do not run any programs the previous items ask you to. If in doubt please call us.

We believe this is the same Malware that brought down Sony Pictures

If you would like any further information, or assistance with further securing your data please get in touch with us.
