Tax Success Pty Ltd is a national franchise network operating in the tax and accounting industry. The company’s digital ecosystem centres on its core domain, stptax.com.

The Challenge

Tax Success Pty Ltd faced the urgent need to decommission its existing cPanel server. This legacy infrastructure hosted critical digital assets, including the website for stptax.com and all email services for stptax.com.

The core challenge was to complete a modernisation and migration project that involved:

  • Building and configuring a new, dedicated cPanel server hosted on Microsoft Azure.
  • Seamlessly migrating all existing data—including the stptax.com website and all associated mailboxes—to the new server.
  • Managing the optional migration for franchisees who wish to transition their email from the cPanel environment to Microsoft 365’s Exchange Online

The Solution

ntuitive IT implemented a three-part solution to address the client’s urgent need for infrastructure modernisation, with a focus on cloud adoption and email migration.

  1. New Cloud Infrastructure Deployment

Intuitive IT built a new, dedicated cPanel Server hosted within Microsoft Azure. The server utilised an Azure Linux server with the Standard_B2s configuration and was provisioned with a cPanel license and 1 TB of storage. Backups were configured to send data to a Microsoft Storage blob, with a retention period of two weeks. The mail configuration on the new cPanel server was specifically adjusted to send and receive email for stptax.com, which was also stored in Microsoft 365.

  1. Comprehensive Data Migration

The team migrated all critical Tax Success data from the existing legacy cPanel server. This migration included the entire stptax.com website and all associated user accounts and mailboxes for stptax.com

  1. Microsoft 365 Email Migration

Franchisees were given the option to migrate their email from cPanel to Exchange Online in Microsoft 365. For those who chose this option, the migration was performed using each user’s local mailbox (Outlook .PST archive file), ensuring that only email stored on the local computer was migrated. To protect client and user data, all new Microsoft 365 accounts were set up with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). The team also provided support for setting up mail on supported Outlook clients (2016 or newer) and mobile devices.

The successful migration project immediately secured Tax Success’s digital future by resolving the risk posed by its outdated infrastructure.

Franchisees who adopted Microsoft 365 benefited from mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), significantly improving the security posture for accessing client and user data.
  • Seamless User Transition: The migration was executed without disrupting existing cPanel users, who retained their original passwords for the new server.
  • Modernised Communication Tools: Franchisees gained the option to move to Microsoft 365’s Exchange Online, providing a more robust and professional email platform. Intuitive IT also ensured a consistent, supported user experience by configuring email exclusively on supported Outlook clients and mobile devices.
