Privacy Awareness, Apple Products and Cybersecurity
To our Melbourne clients, welcome to lockdown 4.0. The rest of you, we are so jealous. I don’t expect this lockdown to be a long one, but wish you all the best with home-schooling!
Privacy Awareness Week
Did you know that 85% of Australians have a clear understanding of why they should protect their personal information, but 49% don’t know how to go about it?
The first week of May was privacy awareness week, and a large portion of the event relates to the IT sphere - so if you haven’t already seen it, I’d highly recommend checking it out. It covers both work and home, and with work from home so prevalent, these lines are more blurred than ever. You can find a link to the work-related section here.
For those of you who are time-poor, I’ll briefly summarise some of the key points (a lot of this is ground I’ve covered in past emails):
- Training staff is key
- Implement robust processes, procedures and controls to reduce the risk of a breach
- Have a plan for when a breach does occur
- Ensure all systems are secure by conducting regular reviews and continuous monitoring
- Ensure privacy and security is set up ‘by-design’ rather than tacked on later
End of Financial Year Rush
With another EOFY fast approaching, many of you will want to spend on new hardware. We recommend that you get your orders in early as stock moves very quickly and we want to make sure you don’t miss out. Speaking of new hardware...
Authorised Apple Reseller
Intuitive IT has recently been approved as an Apple Authorised Reseller. This means that if you are in the market for a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro or iPad we can assist.
We are also able to provide financing through Apple Finance as well if you’re looking to lease your hardware. We are not able to sell iPhones or Apple Watches at this stage.
Did you know that if your business is hit by ransomware, there is a 50% chance you will experience downtime that will cripple your business? Cybersecurity protection is so important; just ask JBS Meats, which is now scrambling to recover from an attack this week. You can protect your business from crippling downtime.
There are 2 areas which you as the person responsible for IT need to focus on:
- Ensuring your Cybersecurity Insurance is up to date and covers phishing and social engineering
- Ensuring you have your staff enrolled in Cybersecurity training and simulation testing.
We can help you determine if your insurance coverage will protect you and enrol your staff in ongoing training and testing.
We have recently upgraded our insurance coverage to including phishing and social engineering. Yes, even us!
Digital signing documents
Are you, your suppliers and customers still signing documents the old-fashioned way? Send a PDF, print it, sign it, scan it, attach it and resend it? It’s almost easier to fax it! But we’re not going there.
Instead, we recommend an eSignature system. Upload the PDF to the system, mark the areas to be signed, enter their signatories email address and you’re done! The productivity savings alone are enough to implement such a system, let alone the added professionalism it adds.
In just about every industry, eSignatures are considered legally binding. Plus, you'll see up to 80% faster document completion rates.
Intuitive IT is a HelloSign certified professional implementer and we can get your signature system up and running in a matter of days. On average it takes 2 days to complete a roll-out.
If you’re interested in saving time, saving money, and increasing your productivity, reach out and we can discuss HelloSign eSignatures with you.
Reach out to discuss anything you may need. We look forward to hearing from you.
